Sheehy End of Day Summary

Image from Omaha World Herald.
The only person to really come forward in all
of this was Dr.  Hatcher which makes us men
look spineless. Why is no one in Nebraska
good at publicity and damage control?
Everyone was expecting that the Nebraska gubernatorial race was going to be a slick transition to Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy. The question that only a few were asking was "Will his skeletions be able to stay underground for such a high office?"

This is all turning out like a 48 Hours Mystery episode. Sheehy doesn't do any measurable policy or presiding work, gets bored of putting on the miles and hardly seeing his wife and kids so he needs an outlet. Enter 4 women. He begins his finagling with a Central Nebraska woman, a Bellevue Dr. Theresa Hatcher, a Texas woman, and a Colorado woman.

The OWH's inspection of the records, on the Scottsbluff Star Herald's page (seriously why can't I find this on the front page of the OWH?) uncovers that two of the  anonymous women were not sexual but more platonic. The Central Nebraska woman couldn't be reached. Mrs. Hatcher on the other hand was the one that Sheehy wanted to be with to "start a new life"...lolwut?

Anyway, their plan was to get a condo in Hastings and live happily ever after, a reasonable goal for any American. But, if they were going to live together no one seemed to mention that "oh yeah by the way I'm going to run for Governor too next year." Maybe Sheehy wouldn't have run for governor if things panned out like he wanted them to.

Further inspection shows that the Sheehys have not been doing so hot. Exactly one year ago his permit owning son was shot in the face by mishandling a glock.

Anyway, somehow Heineman said in his conference this morning that he only became aware of these personal details yesterday when Heineman and Sheehy talked last. Yes, this makes my BS meeter go off the charts, but there's no way to prove or disprove that Heineman knew long before yesterday about Sheehy's personal life...yet.

As for ramifications? Well, as the minutes are counted and the bill is racked up Sheehy may be asked to reimburse the state for all of his mistress minutes. If there's any more prosecuting that needs to be done just leave it up to the honorable John Brunning.

Sheehy has gotten off of twitter, hasn't talked to the press except once to ask if the story has been published, and I immagine he's probably sitting in a dark corner somewhere with his face in his hands tonight.

But, the guy is in the middle of a divorce, some would say "why the big fuss?". In our hyper-conservative state, granted we aren't Arizona, of course Sheehy has reason to hide under the table. If this were say, Vermont, well he would have had his own press conference right after the governor. Bottom line, Sheehy is number 2 in Nebraska and because he is an advocate for all things good he needs to play the part.

But on the most serious note. If Sheehy is feeling so alone, he shouldn't be left so tonight for the fear of darker outcomes. Rick, if you've somehow stumbled on this newly birthed blog, you need to be with someone who will legitimately listen to your concerns and comfort you enough to face the dawn.

Sheehy needs to come out and do it Nebraska style. None of this "Exclusive interview" nonsense like with Lance Armstrong and other recent celebrities. Just one good press conference and be done with it. The next big turn of events will be whether or not Mark Fahleson or Vince Powers can get their respective right or left candidates into 1425 H Street.
